Game 14
Apollos 5 Astros 3. Quinones pitched a complete game striking out 13 and walking only 2. The Apollos had a few key hits. In the second inning, Hall singled, stole second and was knocked in by Wilson. In the fourth inning, Hall doubled and was scored on a sacrifice fly by Donald. Mo walked, moved over on Morales' key bunt and came home on a bawk to take the lead in the game. Then in the eighth inning, Quinones doubled, Clifton singled and stole second, and Hall singled to knock in the two RBIs for a couple insurance runs. It was a great win for the Apollos.
Game 13
Apollos 20 Cardinals 4.
Clifton Siems hit two homers, Marcos Quinones pitched 5 innings and homered, Andrew Dunn homered, Mo Caesar had 5 hits. The Cardinals made 10 errors.
Game 12
Apollos 6 Mudcats 4. Quinones was dominant from the mound and pitched the entire 8 inning game. The Apollos defense was average - for every error in the field, the Apollos came back with a double play to compensate. On offense, the Apollos scored 3 in the first inning with a single from Dunn who was knocked in by a single from Clifton. Then Bob hit an absolute bomb earning 2 RBIs. In the third, Gibson singled and was knocked in by a double from Marcos. Josh Wilson got on in the seventh, stole second and scored on a passed ball to break the 4-4 tie. Then the Apollos scored one more insurance run in the eighth when Hall got on first, Donald walked, Hall stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Wilson. The game was a good team effort.
Game 11
Apollos 8 Raiders 7. The Apollos had to fight hard to win this game. Brian Volante threw 6 great innings and was relieved by Chris Gibson. Every Apollo batter got a hit and the whole team contributed. The game was tied for several innings. There were two outs when Dunn walked, Gibson singled, and Marcos hit a shot to center that knocked in Dunn to win the game.
Game 10
Apollos 9 Raiders 8. The Apollos used their deep pitching staff with Gibson, Thompson, Siems, Quinones, and Dutka throwing well to keep all the guys fresh for the playoffs this weekend. The Apollos helped out the Raiders by giving them two guys so they could field a team. The Apollos started the first inning with 5 runs with singles from Dunn and Hall a triple from Gibson. Morales and Donald walked and Mo singled to knock in the runs. In the second inning, Gibson hit a bomb. Siems singled in the fifth and was knocked in by Morales. The Apollos made a last inning win with a single by Hall and a walks by Siems and Josh. Eric hit a walkoff single to win the game.
Game 9
Deer Park Cardinals 17 Apollos 8. Brian Volante threw 6 innings. He threw strikes, but the Cardinals can hit the ball hard. Nichols, Morales, and Dunn pitched in relief. The Apollos had some good hitting. In the first, Mo Caesar homered knocking in Dunn. In the fifth, Gibson and Dunn scored on passed balls. In the seventh, the Apollos got going when Dutka, Dunn and Volante singled and Quinones doubled to knock them in. Morales singled to knock in Quinones.
Game 8
Houston Apollos 8 Bobcats 7
Chris Gibson and Marcos Quinones homered and each had three hits. Alex Dutka held the Bobcats to 4 runs in his final Spring Apollos Start. Marcos Quinones was wild on the mound.
Game 7
Deer Park Cardinals 16 Apollos 3.
Apollos made 10 errors and had 5 hits. Deer Park made 0 errors and had about 12 hits. Apollos reload for rematch.
Game 6
Hurricanes beat Apollos 7-6. The Hurricanes didn't hit well the Apollos made 5 errors. The Apollos managed only 4 hits as a team. Two by Chris Gibson including his home run. Amazingly they went into the bottom of the seventh up one run. Trahan blew the save, Hurricanes win.
Game 5
Apollos beat Hurricanes 7-3, the Apollos scored all runs in the 4th inning on 5 walks and 3 errors. Brian Volante came in and threw well out of relief for the win.
Scrimmage Game
Apollos beat Rough Riders 14-7. The Apollos had a fun time with this game. All the Apollos scored a run in the game. The team switched up some positions, and the Apollos saw some good pitching from Chris Gibson, Andrew Dunn, Greg Nichols, and David Trahan.
Game 4
Mudcats beat Apollos 15-5.
Alex Dutka threw very well. The Apollos defensively made 8 errors. The hitting was ok not great, the Mudcats made several big defensive plays.
Game 3
Apollos beat Bobcats 11-3.
The Apollos welcomed the return of Chris Gibson and Eric Morales's bats to the lineup. Each had three hits and Gibson homered. We are glad to have Chris after wrist surgery. Mo Caesar had three hits. Alex Dutka was dominant on mound for another win. Josh Wilson played excellent middle infield.
Game 2 Apollos beat Metro Astros 12-9.
This was another tough battle for the Apollos against a competitive Astros squad. The game started with Brian Volante pitching to one batter and leaving the game with shoulder pain. Chris Gibson took over and threw four innings. JT took over in the fifth and threw a couple scoreless innings, and he was relieved by Alex Dutka closing the game. JT gets a win and Alex gets a save. On offense, the Apollos had plenty of activity. Dunn singled, doubled and tripled and scored four runs. AJ had two singles and remarkably caught the final out of the game when Dunn got nervous and baubled a routine fly ball. Mo was solid with 3 singles and RBIs. Alex singled and got on base four out of five times. He better stick to pitching and not playing first base. Andrew doubled and made some good plays at second base. It was good to have Murphy back at shortstop and he also got a nice single. Eric made some great plays at third base and had a single and a run. Donald caught the game and had a nice single and a run. Brian hit two singles and scored two runs. Overall, it was a great team effort. Way to go Apollos.
Game 1 Raiders beat Apollos 6-2.
The Apollos defeated themselves in this game. The first inning started out great with Dunn, the leadoff hitter, hitting a homerun. Then Hall singled and scored on a double from Mo Caesar. The offense for the rest of the game was nothing to mention. On the defense side of the game, Alex Dutka pitched 6 innings striking out 9 guys. The errors leading to unearned runs killed the Apollos with 4 unearned runs scoring in the sixth inning. Jason Thompson threw the last two innings striking out four guys.
Scrimmage Game 1
Apollos beat Raiders 11-1. Early in the game the Apollos played very poor defense. The Raiders appeared to be have a tryout as 25 people showed up and it was their first game. Their pitchers didn't throw strikes. Bob, Hall and Mo all reached base all 4 times. Drew and Brian threw strikes and threw very well
