The Apollos were formed in 2002 as an amateur semi-pro team by Andrew Dunn and have won every type of amateur championship that exists in Houston and throughout the State of Louisiana.
Over 721 players have played for the Apollos since 2002.
In 2021 The Houston Apollos served as the travel team for the American Association for the 2021 season.
They finished with a record of 17-83 and had many one run losses.
The American Association of Professional Baseball is an independent professional baseball league founded in 2005.
It operates in the central United States and Canada, mostly in cities not served by Major League Baseball teams or their minor league affiliates. Joshua Schaub is the league commissioner. League offices are located in Moorhead, Minnesota.
In 2020, as part of MLB's reorganization of the minor leagues the American Association became an official MLB Partner League.
The Apollos are no strangers to being a travel team in Independent Baseball.
In 2020 the Apollos served as the travel team in the Pecos League playing entire season.
In 2017 the Apollos played against the Tijuana Toros in a Spring Training Series in Tucson.
In 2011 the Apollos played against the Roswell Invaders in Del Rio, Texas.
In 2007 and 2008 the Apollos played against the Bay Area Toros in Continental Baseball League.
The Pecos League has operated travel teams in numerous leagues including the Salina Stockade.
The Stockade played in the Pecos League in 2016, American Association in 2017, CanAm in 2018, Pacific Association in 2019. All as a traveling road team..
