Apollos beat Bay Sox 10-2. The Apollos were led by some great pitching from Clifton Siems who struck out 12 batters out of 24 faced. The Apollos scored 8 runs in the third inning due to Bay Sox errors and walks with a couple big hits from Murphy, Brandon and a 2 run homer by Jeremy. It was a great team effort displayed to beat the Bay Sox and continue in the Playoffs.
Playoff Game 1
Hurricanes beat Apollos 7-4. Jeff Murphy made some very costly errors up the middle and the Hurricanes got out to an easy 7-0 lead. The Apollos never got on track.
Game 11
Hurricanes beat Apollos 8-3. The Apollos nearly forfeited the game and barely fielded a team. David Trahan didn't have time to warm up before the game, The Apollos didn't hit either, Eric Morales & Andrew Dunn had two hits. Mike King and Clifton Siems threw well shaking off rust.
Game 10
Mudcats beat Apollos 5-1. The Apollos could not get any offense going as runners were left stranded in seven innings. The only run started with a double by Aaron Mize which was knocked in with a single from David Trahan in the seventh inning. Sonny Terrazas pitched a great complete game for the Apollos and held the hard hitting Mudcats to only 5 runs. The Apollos played some good defense with some nice double plays from Eric Morales and Jeff Murphy. If the team could only hit, they would win.
Game 9
Colt 45's beat Apollos 9-8. The Apollos played their worst game in team history. They were up 8-3 going into the 8th inning. The Colts scored three off of Apollo errors in the 8th. Then in the ninth after Chris Gibson walked one batter he was pulled for Chris Scarcella. Chris Scarcella walked one, struck out one and gave up the game winning double. Eric Morales homered and Jeff Murphy went 3-4. Sonny Terrazas threw one fine game.
Game 8
Apollos beat Bandits 11-3. The Apollos played some tough defense lead by pitching from Jeff Murphy who only gave up three runs to the first three batters and David Trahan threw a shutout in the final four innings striking out six. The offense was exciting and lead by Eric Morales who went 4 for 5 with three singles and a homer that combined to drive in 5 runs. The rest of the Apollos offense was hot with the team getting 14 hits on the Bandits.
Game 7 (Exhibition)
Apollos beat Sharks 7-3. The Apollos scored 5 runs in the third of Sharks starter/reliever. The game was never close after that. Derek Clifton homered and pitched the final inning for the save. Donald Duck made several good throws to second base on attempted base runners. Eric Morales and Aaron Mize had key 2 rbi hits. We will play the Sharks again soon.
Game 6 (Exhibition)
Sharks beat Apollos beat 4-2. The Apollos failed to score heavily on the Sharks starter. Then the Sharks brought in their lefty out of the pen who K'd 10 batters. The Apollos managed just one run on the lefty blowing many oppportunities. The Apollos pitching was good, but several errors were the difference in the game. The Sharks only managed 5 hits. Rematch on Aug 6th at League City.
Game 5
Apollos beat Tigers 15-9. The Apollos had a slow start giving up 5 homers to the Tigers. However, they made a serious comeback in the 8th inning when the entire lineup made it on base and the Apollos scored 8 runs to come from behind. Kris Kooken pitched 6 innings giving up 9 runs and David Trahan came in to close the game and earned himself a win. The Apollos finally got it together on the offense and every guy scored a run in the game. Hamilton Simonton III earned MVP of the game with three hits early in the game and some excellent defense at first base.
Game 4
Apollos beat Cougars 21-2. Chris Gibson threw a complete game walking one. Simonton and Trahan homered. Everyone else scored a run. Everyone in the lineup got a hit. The team racked up 8 doubles. This type of output should have occured against the Outlaws.
Game 3
Apollos beat LC Outlaws 1-0. The Outlaws gave the Apollos a huge scare. Chris Scarcella struck out 13 in 5 innings. He walked two but only two people put the ball in play. Aaron Mize got two hits. He was removed for a pinch runner (Donald Duck) who scored the only run on a Jeff Murphy Sac Fly. The Apollos must score more runs.
Aaron Mize and Kevin Hall were placed on DL.
Game 2
DP Cardinals beat Apollos 7-4. Sonny Terrazas hit 2 home runs but the Deer Park Cardinals offense and pitching was very strong. Chris Gibson had a nice opposite field bomb in the first inning and drove in the other run with a single. Chucky Platt made a good debut despite early wildness. The Apollos didn't make any errors or walk batters the Cardinals just crushed baseball with many doubles.
Game 1
Apollos beat League City Astros 16-3. Clifton and Trahann combined on the mound. Kevin Hall homered, David Trahann went 3-4. Chris Gibson 4-5.
Scrimmage Game 2
Apollos beat Deer Park Cardinals 7-2. It was the first game for many of the Cardinals in quite a while. Derek Clifton hit 2 bombs. Andrew Dunn had 2 hits and 2 walks. Aaron made his Apollos debut. All five Apollos pitchers threw very well especially David Trahann. (Derek Clifton, Chris Scarcella, Jeff Murphy, Chris Gibson)
